NET-A-PORTER announces four brands for third season of The Vanguard: the program for emerging designers
September 4, 2019 – NET-A-PORTER continues to reinforce itself as the destination and incubator for nascent designers, by announcing the next wave of emerging designers and the industry’s brightest new fashion talent as part of its celebrated VANGUARD program: BITE Studios, Le 17 September, Naturae Sacra and The Sant.
All four brands are new and exclusive for the Fall/Winter ’19 season and are set to receive a comprehensive mentorship within each area of the business as part of the now well-established program.
For the first time, each brand was scouted through Instagram, including RTW brands BITE Studios and Le 17 September alongside handbag brands Naturae Sacra and The Sant. Sustainability was top of mind during the selection process, with BITE Studios and Naturae Sacra both championing sustainable processes and materials in their production.
THE VANGUARD will be supported with a visual campaign highlighting the four new brands for Fall/Winter ‘19, alongside previous brands from the second season of THE VANGUARD: Peter Do, Commission, Ratio et Motus and Anne Manns.
Over the past two seasons, we have loved witnessing the positive effect the Vanguard mentorship program has on these emerging brands. It’s so important for us to be able to share our insight in a meaningful way and aim towards a shared goal of long-lasting success. One year after launch, we are thrilled to announce the next wave of exciting new designers who all offer something completely unique to the market.
About the brands
With the dialogue around responsible dressing engaging fashion lovers, BITE Studios was a natural choice for The Vanguard’s support, answering, as it does, the demand for sustainable luxury design. From sharp suiting to slick shirt dresses, BITE (an acronym for “By Independent Thinkers for Environmental progress) delivers a masterclass in elevated style with ethically sound credentials.
LE 17 SEPTEMBRE
One of the most exciting brands to emerge from the Korean fashion scene, Le 17 Septembre is the creation of blogger turned self-taught designer Eunhye Shin. Monastic in palette and minimalist in mood, its pieces have a quiet, contemplative cool, easing effortlessly into any stylish wardrobe.
If ever handbags deserved the title art, it would be those by Naturae Sacra. These elegant leather designs boasts sculptural resin handles, crafted in curving, fluid shapes inspired by nature. And since no two handles are the same, each bag is as unique as the woman who carries it.
This new Barcelona brand is shaking up the handbag world with its witty, modern pieces. Its designs are full of quirky touches, from exaggerated shapes (the squashed box, the extended oblong) to offbeat details (soft, concertinaed-leather handles, flap closures), ensuring each one is a statement piece.
