YOOX NET-A-PORTER GROUP, the world leader in online luxury and fashion, has launched its “Kids Day” 2019, the initiative with children visiting their parents’ workplaces, focused  for the first time on the education for sustainable development, a fundamental theme to make the “citizens of tomorrow” more sensitive to the complexity of the environmental context.

The event was launched in collaboration with LifeGate, Fondazione Golinelli and CodeMotion, and was aimed at promoting sustainable behaviours and, at the same time, train the younger generations for tomorrow’s jobs. Through creative workshops and interactive sessions at the Milan, Zola Predosa (BO) and Bologna Interporto locations, the 300+ children involved participated in educational workshops on:

  • Coding, to tackle the basics of computational thinking and combine creativity and digital skills through the practical use of robotics such as the Makey Makey kit and the Bee Bot robot;
  • Sustainable impact, to stimulate awareness of individual behavior and promote virtuous and environmentally friendly actions
  • Creation of the sustainable logo, to direct the creativity of the participants towards environmental issues and the creation, through the aid of ipads and computers, of a real logo
  • Smart Farm, to deepen the connection between technology and sustainability through the Internet of Things (IoT) and the coding of a program that measures the health of a map real-time
