YOOX NET-A-PORTER GROUP is the main partner for ITALIANA – Narrating Italian History through Fashion 1971-2001, an exhibition launching at the Palazzo Reale today in Milan.
The celebration of Italian fashion will feature iconic objects from fashion, art, design, photography and publishing during the seminal period 1971-2001, which saw the debut of Ready-to-Wear and “Made in Italy” become a hallmark of fashion manufacturing globally. The period marked a new era of self-expression as both men and women became free to engage with fashion. It also marks the creation of both YOOX and NET-A-PORTER in 2000 – another game changer within the luxury industry.
YNAP has supported the project in a number of ways, including providing the curators with access to the Group’s digital archive of 12,000 fashion shows. Footage from the shows will feature as part of a digital experience at the exhibition. YNAP has also created content for use on social media to promote the exhibition.
YNAP’s involvement builds on its previous support (under the YOOX brand) for the Bellissima exhibition which covered the period in Italian fashion 1945-1968
The exhibition is conceived and curated by Maria Luisa Frisa, critic, curator and Professor at Venice Iuav University, and Stefano Tonchi, editor-in-chief of W Magazine, and is promoted by the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana.
