8 BY YOOX – shaped by data, tailored on you
Celebrating one year since from the successful launch of YOOX’s pioneering AI-powered collection
Positive results mark the anniversary of YOOX own label 8 by YOOX, the first-of-its kind label of stylish essentials: powered by data and AI, designed in Italy and crafted with the finest quality materials.
Launched on November 6th, 2018, 8 by YOOX is the first-ever label to be designed based on AI interpreted data, both external – collected from the most relevant image-led fashion sources – and internal – generated over 19 years at the forefront of multi-brand fashion e-commerce. In the highly-visual fashion business, 8 by YOOX leverages on images as data, transforming them into insights and dynamic mood-boards to support the creative process of the internal product team.
Within its first year, 8 by YOOX has become one of the e-tailer’s best-selling brands, rising to YOOX TOP 20 list. Demand has been led by the USA, Russia and Italy.
This strong performance, coupled with exceptional customer feedback, confirms that continued investment in data analytics is a winning strategy. 8 by YOOX is also delivering lower returns, demonstrating that when design is informed by data, it is better at giving customers what they want in terms of quality, fit and style. Global customer feedback has recognised the quality of the collection and the choice of the materials used: 8 by YOOX suppliers are in fact selected for their strong heritage, with silk produced in China; leather and accessories coming from Italy; and espadrilles produced in Spain.
The new SS 20 collection, which will be unveiled at the beginning of December, integrates additional data into its algorithm, including sales and customer-experience insights from the previous 8 by YOOX collections. Additionally, YOOX has invested in highly-sophisticated customer segmentation research, further defining customers’ style identities, making the SS20 collection ever more tailored towards the customer.
The SS20 collections for women and men will comprise easy-to-wear essentials designed to adapt to the individual wearer’s body contours, due to fluid, unstructured silhouettes. The colour palette embraces darker neutral tones, which lighten throughout the season, mixed with bold chromatic highlights. Exclusive geometric prints characterise the collections, whilst floral patterns spread from micro to macro. Soft and lightweight fabrics such as suede, jersey, and silk are predominant in the collection and have been chosen for their comfort and versatility.
A wide selection of elegant leather accessories complements the collection and shoes range from ultrafeminine stilettos and sandals to unisex espadrilles and slippers.
In line with YOOX NET-A-PORTER’s commitment to lead sustainability developments in the industry, 8 by YOOX SS20 will include twice as many sustainable pieces. This has been possible through greater collaboration with suppliers, audited throughout the whole production chain, and responds to customers’ requests for more responsible and sustainable fashion.
