Coding workshops and virtual world tours for future innovators at the Group’s headquarters in Milan
Always committed to promoting digital education among young people and gender equality in technology, this year YOOX NET-A-PORTER GROUP partners with Comune di Milano for #STEMintheCity2019, the initiative aimed at bringing young people closer, in particular the girls, to the STEM disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) through workshops, seminars, training courses, installations and shows.

For the occasion, YOOX NET-A-PORTER GROUP opened the doors of its Milan Headquarters to over 50 elementary school students aged 7 to 9, of which more than half were girls, ready to experiment with programming exercises, thanks to the support of experts of technology of the Group and to the team of Fondazione Golinelli.
The young innovators made their debut in programming thanks to the support of a robot sphere to which it is possible to indicate movement instructions, light changes and much more through the relative app, programmable in a simple and intuitive way.
The children also had the opportunity to embark on a virtual tour of the YOOX NET-A-PORTER GROUP offices. Thanks to virtual reality technology, it was possible to show the future innovators the behind the scenes of the luxury e-commerce leader, in our logistic centers and in our offices, to also show them the roles and professions present at a company like YOOX NET -A-PORTER GROUP.
The Group has always been committed to promoting digital education, particularly among girls, in collaboration with Fondazione Golinelli in Italy and Imperial College of London in the United Kingdom, in order to create the next generation of innovators and reduce the gender gap in jobs and careers in technology. In 2018 alone, the YOOX NET-A-PORTER GROUP Digital Education Program has trained over 3,400 students aged 4 to 18, of whom 55% are girls.
